Cyberespionage

Espionage is often called the third-oldest profession and has existed since the beginning of time. In the past, this involved stealing physical items or extracting information from people. However, in the information age, much of what a modern spy may want is available on a computer. Spies working for nation-states, competing corporations, and cybercriminals are stealing billions of euros of data each year. Cyber spies can steal more from a computer than any Human Intelligence (HUMINT) operator can steal in a lifetime.  Corporations working on cutting edge technologies, medical laboratories creating new medications and procedures to help with

Infrastructure Security

Our societies rely on access to reliable, stable energy, clean water, and quality healthcare. All of these industries have become extremely dependent upon computers and interconnectivity. This was often done as both a time-saving convenience and for cost savings, but most were implemented with little care to security. Witness the Russian attacks on both Estonia and Ukraine, whereby electricity production and the financial sector were brought to their knees. We cannot move into the future without taking the necessary steps to ensure the very foundation our societies are built upon are secure. Imagine, if you will, an attack on an electricity generation plant that provides electricity to a hospital.  While the hospital likely has short-term power generation capabilities, the impact on critical patients would be catastrophic.

At CGPRC, we work to find better ways to aid governments around the world, from national to local, to secure their critical infrastructure. We strive to help develop best practices that can be utilized by every country – regardless of developmental status.

Renewable Energy

Green, renewable energy is the only viable path forward for the stability and security for any country. Being dependent on despotic leaders for one’s energy supply will always lead to disaster. By creating forms of renewable energy, countries can provide for the security of their own people.  Renewable energy also provides economic incentives for growth, leading to a higher level of prosperity within a country. Initiatives such as these can help developing nations move out of poverty, providing economic security.

Cybersecurity

In a broader concept compared to the items above, cybersecurity touches the lives of nearly every person on Earth. From data breaches where individual’s financial information is stolen to cyberstalking. The world has advanced into using technology far faster than it has developed secure ways to use it. As our world becomes even more interconnected, the dangers also become more devastating. When attackers can turn off water purification plants, it is the innocents who will suffer. When states attack the energy production services of another country, lives are put at risk. Wars are shifting from the kinetic to the cyber at a rate the world us not prepared for. New ideas and solutions are required to ensure the safety of everyone.
